About

Hi, I’m Wes Devore, a composer and sound designer for video games, film and TV. Before devoting myself to this crazy and awesome career, I was in school working to become a professor of composition. However, I knew that I loved video games, films and their music way too much to not make this my full-time career. I changed paths and became a full-time composer and sound designer.

I’ve worked incredibly hard learning to write all styles of music: action/ adventure orchestral, epic orchestral, electronica, folkish, 8-bit, world, jazz and more. That being said, I enjoy working in all genres: horror/ suspense, epic fantasy, platformers, action/ adventure, puzzlers etc.  I am also a sound designer, creating everything from footsteps and sword-clashes to ambiences and explosions. I manage full audio projects from beginning to end, taking responsibility for the creation, production and implementation of all audio assets.

I think that music and audio in games and films can shape and elevate the emotional sphere of the narrative. One of the reasons I love scoring is that I can reveal a new dimension of the story and more deeply attach the audience to the emotions on screen.

My music has been performed throughout France, Italy, Germany, England, Canada and the United States by: Ensemble Intercontemporain, East Coast Contemporary Ensemble, Ensemble L’arsenale, JACK quartet, The Playground Ensemble and more. In 2014 I was invited to participate in l'académie manifeste 2014, an institution at Le Centre Pompidou in Paris, France dedicated to researching mathematical properties of sound and music. I won the Playground Ensemble Anne Culver Student Composition Prize and was a finalist in the 2014 SCI/ASCAP Commission Competition. I was also a finalist in the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award in 2013 and 2014 and was a finalist in 60th Annual BMI Student Composer Awards in 2012. Further, I was the Outstanding Student in Composition in 2013 at the University of Denver where I graduated Summa cum Laude in 2014. I am a member of both Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Lambda.

I love hearing about new ideas for projects so don’t hesitate to contact me, and we will creatively discuss our vision for your next project.
